U.S. Patent 6,504,450 B2

KMW Communications continues to expand its portfolio of intellectual property and patents for Air Interface Solutions with the issue of U.S. Patent 6,504,450 B2 for antenna beam phase system control of beam direction and beam width selection for use in cellular communications systems.

The benefits of the technology protected by U.S. Patent 6,504,450 B2 are:

  • Real time RF management for traffic, capacity, coverage, and QoS
  • Elimination of tower crew expenses for antenna beam adjustments
  • Reduction of capital expenditures for new antennas

Ease of installation similar to conventional antennas
"The MLPS uses a noncontact dielectric method to alter the DC phase in the antenna pattern transmission cables to control antenna patterns and beams. Unlike conventional antenna phase shifters, no moveable phase shifter sleeves are interfaced to the antenna patterns. MLPS produces a consistent pattern at any down tilt or beam width while also eliminating the expense or point of failure of separate custom control cables, jumper cables and actuators."
